I love the Fall season! Temperatures are not too hot and not too cold. Leaves turn into beautiful shades of gold, red, bronze, yellow and orange. One can rock the stylish layered looks, the preppy blazers, and the cable knit tights without bundling up with the heavy winter necessities. Autumn reminds me of the smell of freshly baked sweet potato pie, hot apple cider laced with caramel, and anything cinnamon!
This year I’ve decided to get more into outdoor decorating. This would normally be reserved only for the Christmas season, but I figured why not extend it? With a visit to the local Michaels, Ikea, and Home Depot (and a few odds and ends from around the house), I was able to create a welcoming front porch. Since hubby is naturally a New Orleans Saints fan, I decided to incorporate the fleur de lis. (He actually thinks the fleur de lis will remain on the door the entire football season – ha!)

Leaf garland and stencils were purchased from Michaels. Pumpkins and paint (Rust-Oleum in Pearl Mist and Martha Stewart Textured Metallic in Lamp Black) were purchased from Home Depot. The door mat was purchased from Ikea, and I did the monogram myself.

The lovely KariAnne over at Thistlewood Farms has an awesome tutorial on how to make the monogram welcome mat.
