In the second installment of “30 Things My Kids Should Know About Me”, I have to tell 3 legitimate fears that I have and how they became fears. And no, I don’t really have a fear of vampires – although if I came across one I’d run. 🙂
- I am fearful of someone hurting my daughter. The world is so different from when I was growing up. It’s no longer safe for kids to play outside unattended, no more bike-riding adventures (all day) without an adult, and trick-or-treating is done at the mall now instead of door-to-door. Whether it’s physically or mentally, the thought of anyone harming her in any way terrifies me.
- I have a fear of a life filled with regrets. There have always been so many things that I wanted to do, but never did due to self-doubt, discouragement, etc. When I look back I regret not believing in myself enough to do the things that I wanted to do. Going forward, I’m determined to do my best to fulfill my dreams. And if I don’t do it, it’ll be because I didn’t have the time, not because I was too afraid.
- I have a serious fear of being chased – by people, animals, etc. I’m not sure how this came about but as a child, it was mighty helpful when playing tag! The thought of being chased made me run even faster!
